Jan 5th, 1 John 3: 11-24

Summary: In today’s passage, we are told one of God’s commands: to believe in the name of His son, and to show that belief by loving one another.

Focus Verse: 18 – Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

Reflection: "What is God saying to you through this verse?"

God loves us and considers us His children. We are protected and cared for and we are receiving instruction and teaching out of love and truth from God. The term, “talk is cheap” comes to mind. Anyone and everyone can say or promise things. But how many times do they actually follow through and keep their promises and do what they said they would do? Not all the time that is for certain and we are disappointed when actions do not follow the words. Another term comes to mind, “actions speak louder than words” as our acts of faith will convey a more impactful message. As believers, we should help others in need and be like Christ who sacrificed everything for us even though we did not deserve this act but God’s love and grace and mercy allowed us to receive His awesome and eternal gift. Please let us share our gift and blessings and do not disappoint our neighbors in need with idle words and no actions.

Prayer: Dear Father. Thank you for your love and mercy. Please help us reach out to others in need and to put faith into action with love. In Your name, Amen.
